Generally - Inquiry, Knowledge acquired by investigation
Specifically - Ancient etymological basis for modern word HISTORY
Historia (Gr.)
Pilotos (Gr.) -
Guide, Pilot
Historia was the ancient Greek word that eventually evolved into the English word history, after an excursion into Latin, French, and numerous other languages. Pilotos is the modern Greek for pilot and also carries the connotation of guiding and steering. Combined, these words synthesize my primary passions of historical inquiry/research generally, and guiding students through the wonders of discovering the past. While history is my primary focus of inquiry, I also teach educational pedagogy / technology and political science. By implication my favorite nonprofessional activity, aviation, is also present. The purpose of this site is to allow my students to interact with course content and to share my scholarly activities. Most pages are open except for course specific pages. Only student's enrolled in that specific course are approved for access to members pages (labeled members).
