Digital History Projects

Digital history has enormous potential. Below is a brief article explaining "What is Digital History?" Following that are a some examples of digital history projects.

This is a great example of the possibilities of incorporating story mapping in the classroom. Click on https://sites.wp.odu.edu/primary-sources/ for the home page to see several more. 

This comprehensive database allows slave voyage records searches. The site contains many maps, images, 3D models, a timeline lapse map and many elements allowing users to study the the slave trade

A neat exploration of Harlem from 1915-1930 through digital sources. This was one of the first digital history projects I encountered.

GIS

One of the many avenues of digital history, some GIS tutorials and explanations are included below 

This site has a number of tools for historians and teachers of history to develop their own GIS tools

Mission Statement
The over-arching goal of this history course is to provide the desire and tools for each student to become a lifelong history learner by equipping them with the ability to read history, critically acquire historical knowledge through a variety of mediums, and defend historical arguments orally and in writing.
